Internal Family Systems (IFS)

Internal Family Systems (IFS) is a transformative, evidence-based therapy model that helps individuals understand and heal the different parts of their inner world. Rooted in the idea that the mind is made up of multiple sub-personalities or “parts,” IFS empowers individuals to create harmony within themselves by addressing these internal parts with compassion and curiosity.

 

Through IFS, individuals can explore their emotions, heal past wounds, and cultivate a more balanced and resilient mindset. This approach is particularly effective in addressing trauma, anxiety, depression, and self-esteem issues by fostering self-awareness and self-leadership.

How Does IFS work?

IFS therapy operates on the understanding that our minds consist of various “parts” that develop in response to life experiences. These parts can take on roles such as protectors, exiles, or managers. The goal of IFS is to help individuals connect with their Self, the core compassionate and wise presence within, to guide and heal these parts.

Exiles are parts that carry past wounds, often rooted in childhood experiences.

Managers work to prevent pain by controlling behavior and emotions.

Firefighters act impulsively to distract from emotional distress.
